Touareg Reliable? Yes? No? Other Options...?

Hi Guys... New here...

Joined because I am looking at a 2011 Touareg VR6 sport with nav package. It is used with 20000 miles on it. Looking to import it to Canada from the US.

Unsure about volkswagen reliability so here to learn! I am looking at this vehicle because I want a nicer SUV that can tow... and the 7,700 lbs is plenty.

I am worried about repair cost, parts, or just the overall general reliablilty of the vehicle. I know european parts for any car whether it be an audi, bmw or VW will generally be more expensive. I am fine with that expense... but not if the car is going to break down 10x more than a Japanese Car.

I guess I am fine with the expense of repairs, but want it to still be a reliable car. Meaning not repairing one thing after another constantly.

Can anyone tell me if they think the touareg is worth it? Are the newer volkswagens better than the older ones? I heard the older ones had a bad rap. Are they better now?

Thanks

Frank
