2013 VW Tiguan Fuel Tank
Hi Guys & gals,
New to the VW forum. Have a 2013 VW Tiguan S. While driving home last night hit a good size tree branch in the road and it caused a decent size crack in my fuel tank. Not wide but about 2" in length.
Have a couple of questions regarding my frustrating situation.
1. Do/Are junk yards allowed to sell used fuel tanks?
2. For a novice of any type of mechanical skills is this basically a do not try at home situation and just pay a real mechanic?
3. Will a real mechanic install a fuel tank if I bring a used one to save cost on parts?
4. Are there any kind of Epoxy's this will work for? I was shocked when I looked under the car and discovered the tank to be plastic and not metal but this is the newest vehicle I have owed and the first VW.
Thank you in advance for your time,
Matthew

Default Welcome to Volkswagen Forum - Rules & Recommendations
You don't say if you 2013 Tiguan is petrol/gas or diesel. Is it a plastic or steel fuel tank?
Fuel tank - diesel - 5N0 201 060 BM - £534.85
Fuel tank - petrol with narrow fuel filler neck (22mm) for lead free fuel - 5N0 201 060 BG - £534.85
Breakers do sell fuel tanks. I would repair the fuel tank as it won't hurt to try.
