My girlfriend has a polo GTI Year 2000, and i am thinking about changing the cam belt, i beleive it has 2, is this a difficult task, i have changed cam belts before on a twin cam vtec Honda Civic which only has 1 belt.

Also the gearbox on this car fills clonky, it doesnt grind but is sometimes hard to get into gear, is this common, i adjusted the clutch because the biting point was near the floor, which helped.

The service history show it has had a peddle box replaced and it is hardest getting into reverse gear

 

On the year 2000 GTI it has a belt in place of where you have a chain connecting the cams together

Ok thanks probibly will try to fit it in a couple of weeks time, when i got some free time, i found an autodata manual on the net which is very helpful and sealey make a cam locking tool.
