Default Polo daylight running lights

I have just bought myself a Polo 1.4 2010 model and would like to know whether it is at all possible to have the car's daylight running lights off. The manual does not list a list of fuses and says that these lights ought to be turned off only by VW qualified personnel. Any suggestions?

You can (supposedly) switch the on and off as follows..............

key in ingnition

hold indicator stalk up

turn key in ingnition

hold stalk for 5 seconds

you should hear a beep to tell you it has worked.

I tried holding the indicator stalk up whilst switching on the ignition. No beeps were heard and nothing happened! The lights are still on!
