Gearbox
 

Hi,

I have a VW Polo 1.9 Diesel 1996. The gearbox went a couple of weeks ago. After much searching round the UK got a scrap one installed. Since I picked it up it has been doing about 500-700 more revs than it did before. basically I have got to go into 5th gear by the time i get to about 35-40mph. Some people are saying the gear ratio might be different. Could it be that the wrong gearbox was installed or that the garage have done a rubbish job putting it in .Anybody got any ideas on this? Any help would be great.

I'd seriously look into it...shouldn't HAVE to go into 5th at around 40mph....
Could be gear ratio, but doubt it.
