Default Warning light panel

Hello lads, I bought last month a VW Passat 1.6l Petrol from 2000, the car camed without users manual. Now when I turn on the car it almost never starts at first time and a yellow light with a car and a key lights on in the front panel. I've searched for the users manual on-line to try find the meaning of this light, but couldn't find.
Anyone with a Passat can help me?

Thanks
Ribas

Default RE: Warning light panel

My owners manual for a 2002 Passat shows this yellow light, witha car, with key under it to be an issue with the "electronic immobilizer". The listed cause is that an unauthorizedkey is being used. I suspect your key is not an original. Looks like it may have to be programmed to the car at the dealer or if someone has the software to help you out.

Thanks a lot SQ101, It's probaly that because today after reading your ansewr I used the other key that I have and it started at first and withour warning light.
I'll have to reprograme the key again.
At least it's nothing with the engine
