Transmission steel lines leak

I have a 2004 Passat with the 1.8t in it. When the car is running I leak what I think is transmission fluid. When it started leaking I took the top line going into the radiator off and removed the o-rings because one was completely torn in half and the other looked like it had been pinched. So I replaced both o-rings and it stoped the leak while I tested it in my shop but the first time I went for a drive it started to leak again so I repeated the same thing but used different sized o-rings thinking maybe they expanded with heat, and again it stopped the leak while I was at idle but once I took it for the fist drive drive it started to leak again. Am I just using the wrong o-rings does it need to be a special o-ring, other wise I don't know what the issue could be because I can stop the leak for a little while. Also, when adding more transmission fluid do I need to have a special machine or can I use a small hose and syringe to force it up through the bottom fill plug? Thanks!
