Default Transmission problem

Hey Everyone, I have an 05 Passat GLS 1.8T w/ a little over 72k miles on it. One morning, I experienced jerking when it would switch gears, and then after a few minutes it stopped switching gears all together and the check engine light came on. I took it to my mechanic and he said I need a new transmission. Is this normal for a Passat with such low miles on it??

I've had cars with 120+k miles on them, and they never needed a new transmission! I'm hoping the VW will see that I got a bad seed, and maybe help with the costs of the new transmission. Anyone ever heard of this actually happening?

Thanks,
Shanna "Soon-to-be a VW hater"

Default Transmission problem

I have the same issue in my transmission. I replaced the k1 spring assembly and that fixed it, for a day. Now the problem is back. I have no idea what it is.

Default Transmission problem

Thanks for the reply but I found the problem. The plastic connector under the truck came off the arm from the transmission with the gear in drive. Therefore the truck wouldnt start. Cobbed up a fix becasue they wanted like 80 for an entire cable from the shift to the tranny when all I really needed was the small plastic piece on the end.
