Hey everyone. I'm new to the forum. Anyways, I'm selling my 98 1.8 turbo GLS Passat. The tiptronic function has stopped working about 6 months ago. The transmission runs fine when in normal automatic mode, when I slide over into tiptronic nothing happens. The potential buyer is held up on this issue . I think that its due to some electrical connection, and not the transmission. He just wants some assurance that the transmission is fine. So has anyone experienced this type of issue and if so what was the problem? I plan on taking it in sometime soon to see what the problem is. I hope I can get some help here first.

Hello Omran! Sorry for replying 6 years later. I discovered the same issue on my tiptronic two weeks ago. I called to a workshop and they called the problem a tiptronic emergency operation on the gear system. I know that it is many years since you posted this site but in hope of getting my tiptronic up running as fast and safe as possible i am checking with everybody i can for information. Do you remember what you did to get rid of the problem ? Thank you for answer

 

Well you really need to find someone with VAG-COM\VCDS to do an Autoscan to see what error codes come back that will tell you where the fault is.
