stalls, crank foir ever then starts, then stalls, see air in line??? pump seals???95 turbo diesel passat 1.9 i think

 

try a filter first

 

replaced the fuel filter. i had this happen before but this time the filter did not help. at first i though it did as it started after cranking quite a while and it seemed ok. after it ran for about ten minutes (idle) it started to buck and stall. it will start again after cranking for what seems like forever but it runs very rough and will not sustain higher RPM's. it stalls eventually. it will again start after long cranking

 

you are pulling air in somwhere
pull the sending unit out i think there is a pre filter on the fuel pickup
