Friend has 01 1.6L Passat Petrol. Started acting up, initially EPC light on, cutting / knocking out at lights (waiting), service light comes on. Was just serviced, new plugs, oil filter, oil, air filter. OLD PLUGS were silver ASH colour, dark ring of soot around the neck of the spark plug. kind of // not really Responsive to throttle, but DEFO not with load. ie only does 80mph not 100mph in top gear at full throttle. Will not rev over 5k , 5,000rpm.

Has a readline of 6500 so should make NEAR this NO!?? Idles at 900 rpm.

No bad smoke, sounds like it's missing / misfiring in throttle open (well opening of throttle and letting settle at a rev range), not sure of mpg but it defo not pulling well.

What's the problem? Not read the codes, bought Haynes manual, will check tomorrow. Just glad to get the f-ing oil filter off. THE CLAW (not the wrestler!!) removed it with at universal-joint and a long extension bar, get your rachet on below ( and behind I think I sure you'll see!) the suspension and you should be able to get a good turn on it. I did with a 3 inch max lift off a kerb, wheel up on, no jacks.

I need a shed!

The plugs have normal wear and I think the problem is the throttle control module which requires replacing the whole throttle body.
