Should I buy B5.5 or B6?
 

We want a Passat as our next car and are being swayed by the gorgeous looks of the B6 (2006+) model cars, but I know the 2006 model year had some mechanical troubles. I want to keep my investment sound, so I can either put more money into getting a 2007, or go back to 2005 and pick up a last model year of the older design and save a few bucks. I haven't been able to dig up many comparisons of the 2005 model to the newer 2006+ cars, any suggestions out there? I know the Passat went from using an Audi platform to sharing a stretched Golf platform, which would make the B5 almost sound like a better car...and if I could save money to boot, is that a good route to take?
