Default No Spark!!!

New to the forum. Have a 1990 vw passat 2.0l 16 valve. Got it for free 6 months ago cause the other owner couldn't get it to run. Cleaned the distributor and plugs and it ran sluggish. Changed the plugs and it ran for 4 months. Been dead for the last 2 months and then bought a new coil and it fired right up for 1 day. Parked it and tried it this morning and it won't start. Checked connections and cleaned the distributor and connections again, wiggled wires looking forbroken or loose. And there is no spark at all. Any help on where to start cause I don't have a manual and i'm lost for any ideas. Thanks in advance.

If you changed the coil pack, and it fired up, then check that entire area again. Is it brand new?? Make sure the wires are all the way seated on the coil, and that's all I got. Is there a check engine light on?

Default RE: No Spark!!!

1990 to 1993 with the 2.0L engines they had a problem with those expensive wires that they have in there. The wires get old and literally crack in half if you so much as touch them. I had the same problem with my 1992 2.0 DOHC. My sugestion is to check the wires for cracks or if you have the money, go to techtonics.com and get performance wires for them for like $160. This is cheaper than any NAPA or Autozone and better wires then OEM. Also, you should replace the cap and rotor. If that dosen't work, then let me know because I have the Bentley book on this car due to the fact that I have a 1992 myself and it is the same book. You can pick it up on amazon for 40 dollars. Good Luck!!!
