Need some advice on a Passat

Hello, I am new to this forum, but I am looking at buying a Passat. I test drove a '04 VR6 4MOTION a great ride, quick, responsive and loaded to the gills. I have a '04 P/U truck now that I am trying to sell (hint hint ;)) and I'd really like to upgrade as far as yr but my budget is around $18 - 20k. I am wondering if I can find a '05 or '06 loaded? I really liked the '04 but...... Another question, what can I expect in terms of repairs? The one I looked at had 50k on the odometer. VW has an awesome warranty on pre-loved vehicles which covers it for 2 yrs and 24k mi, but I know they are expensive to repair, I would probably explore a ext warranty to carry me to the end of the loan and 100k or so. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and take care.

I think with this budget you can get a newer car.
May not be a 4Motion, but a FWD newer. I would always try to get a newer car, unless you have a reasl low mileage option.

I am new to the world of VWs too, as I just bought a beautiful 06 Passat with 25k on clock. I walked out the door with mine at just under $17k. The balance of the new car warranty and the pre-loved certified warranty combined give me 4 years and 49k. That said, I agree that you can easily upgrade if you're budget can stretch up to $20k. You should really have quite a bit of change left over too.
