Default Need Advice on which car to buy; 1998 Passat v6 or 2000 Passat I4 1.8T

Hi guys. This is my first post here on the forums and just wanna say whats up to everyone. I'm planning on joining the VW Passat family and need some advice on what everyone thinks is the better deal between these two cars: 1) 2000 Vokswagen Passat with 54,000 miles, Inline 4 Cylinder engine, sunroof, no leather or 2) 1998 Volkswagen Passat with 49,000 miles, V6 engine, sunroof, and with leather. The asking price on both is $9,900. I know the 98 model has better features, but the 2000 is 2 years newer and will have less depreciation if I ever plan to sell it in the future. That is why I am kind of confused. Also, are the body shapes of the 98 and 2000 models the exact same? For some reason, the rear of the 98 looks smaller then the 2000, with the 2000 model looking like an overall longer car. Furthermore, what are the added changes in the 2000 model compared to the 98 model? I know the 2000 model comes with 15 inch Adelaide alloys and the 98 doesnt. I heard somewhere that the 98 Passat's have engine problems and that the 2000's were improved. However, I'm not sure if this relates to just the I4's and not V6's. Pics and details of both cars can be found at:

1998 Passat V6

Sorry for all the questions, but I plan on buying one of these cars soon and would really appreciate all of your advice. Thanks!
