Default Key Fob

Hi All,

I got my 2008 Passat key fob wet, dried it off/out etc. After a week or two it started having problems, so I took it to the dealer. "Service" (in quotes deliberately since they seem unfamiliar with the concept), told me it was $300 bucks for a new fob and the programming.

Is this on the level or a rip-off, and does anyone know of how to program the key myself (I've replaced the battery), or how/where to get it done much cheaper than 300?

Thanks.

I bought one for my MK3 Jetta on ikeyless.com and it came with instructions on how to program it. It was a great buy. Rather than getting it at the dealership. You can also try looking on ebay.
