how can I get to this area of my Passat
 

I have a 2007 VW Passat. Recently, the left storage drawer above the radio won’t close. I think its possibly a dollar bill that has gotten stuck behind it. I was driving by my local VW dealer so pulled in and got a tech able to quickly look at it. Hoping maybe he could tell me a quick way to either remove it or get behind it. He is claiming a lot of the dashboard needs to be taken apart to get back there. I then assume that might be costly.

Since I put in an aftermarket stereo in this vehicle, I was thinking of pulling the radio and see if this allows me to get behind it enough and in the area where something might be jamming it up and keeping it from closing.

Other than these two possibilities, is there maybe anything else that can be suggested to get behind the drawer? Here is a pic of the area I am referring to

imho it would be easier and really quick fix if you remove radio, then take a look at it
