well i went to destin florida to pick up my gf passat and drove it 400 mile sback north to north alabama it ran great on the way home.. when we got home a day later a check engine light came on saying engine coolant system.. so i replaced the thermostat.. well i went and got a new air filter and changed the oil to full synthetic and after a day a stop low oil pressure light came on.. what i was dreading.. so we took it to our shop and drained the oil and ran 3 full bottles of hot shot motor cleaner through it kinda like carb cleaner.. and let it sit and then drained it and added new synthetic and new oil filter.. no light since..? what was the deal? and it already has a warranty sticker for sludge issue like they have already cleaned it? it is running good now? any other issues along the way i hope not it has to last her 5 years and it has 95,000 on it now..

 

What year passat is this? I did the same thing to a 02 passat 1.8t that I got from my cousin but I drove it from New Hampshire to Wisconsin,like 1500 miles, after running motor flush through it and putting royal Purple with new mobil 1 filter. Haitachi coils. I had the same thing with the oil light coming on and I continued to drive it since I could see oil circulating to the top of the motor. I got about 3 miles from after a long drive only stopping for gas and blew a good size hole in the side of the block with the N75 valve unplugged. No Boost was running. Take this serious so you dn't end up replacing amotor like me. If you have any other ?'s let me know.
