Engine Misfire, Now Won't Start 1.8L
Hello,
I have a 2000 Passat 1.8, 5-speed, with 105 miles. Over the past few months I have been getting misfire when I start the car. The check engine light flashes and then the engine runs better after about 30 sec to a min. This is usually during a cold start in the morning. Two weeks ago it misfired and then stalled. I could not get it started again. I could smell gas so I don't think it is a fuel problem. I read the codes and it said that it was a cylinder 4 misfire. I pulled the plugs and they were wet. I ordered the updated coil packs and installed new plugs. The engine fired right up. It ran well for a week or so and now it won’t start again. It fired for about 5 sec and then died, now nothing. I run fuel inject through it regularly, but could it be an injector? What next? |

I am wondering about my fuel injectors. Do you think its possbile for an injector to stick open when I shut the car off and have some gas load up in the cylinder.
