driving belt and tensor

I have a VW Passat (2002, 67K miles). When I dropped by a repair shop to fix mycheck engine light. The shop also recommended me to change my driving belt and tensor. Do you think changing such things for a relatively new car is too early? Thanks for you help!

are you talking about ur timing belt? if you are, definitly get it done i did mine with 70,000 on it, also do you your water pump to, highly recomended.
