Default Brake Warning Light

I have had my B5 for 5 years now and have suffered with an intermittent brake warning light since I had the vehicle. The front pads have been replaced several times over the years through normal wear and tear and the warning light and "Check Brake Pad Wear" caption persists to come on intermittently. Actually over the last few weeks it is on more often than not. Is there anyone that knows how to disable this circuit so that it no longer operates.
