Are all block the same?

Exclamation Are all block the same?
I pulled the head from my '02 passat 1.8T GLS Auto beacuse the block has a hole in it. The head is good and I was just wondering if I could use a block from a different motor or if it has to be from a AWM like I have. Any help is appreciated.

So I could use like a AEB or something or any block from a 02 to 05 1.8T?

I'm pretty sure it has to be the same code. You'd just have to compare them. Or you could call the dealership and find out (if they decide to cooperate with you).
