2012 CC: Connect thumb drive via AUX port?

Has anyone successfully connected a USB thumb drive of music to their CC AUX port? I previously owned a 2012 Kia Forte, and my thumb drive connected to the factory stereo through the AUX port, but I can't make the same connection with my CC. I bought a 3.5 mm to USB conversion jack but still can't make it work.
