2006 Passat + Air bubbles on Buttons

Exclamation 2006 Passat + Air bubbles on Buttons
A bunch of air bubbles have been showing up on my radio's buttons and on the buttons on the door. Why? A friend drives a 2006 Passat as well and he has the same problem. Manufacturing defect?

Mine is the same way, and my Jetta was like that also. It is a rubber like compound that they cover all plastic pieces for LOOKS... But, they don't hold up.

All affected items were made in china with lead base paint..
