2001 Passat
My daughter owns a 2001 Passat with 55,000 miles. At around
52,000 m iles, the "OIL PRESSURE.STOP ENGINE" light came on. After several trips to dealer, and replacement of camshaft belts, oil pressure sending unit the problem persists. After each of the replacements, the car appeared normal for as long as two weeks until the same warning light came on again. One month ago, the dealer dropped the oil pan looking for sludge and found none. The engine was oil pressure tested by dealer and found to be normal. One month after the oil pan inspection, the oil pressure light is on again. It sometimes comes on at highway speeds and also in city driving and stays on until ignition is turned off. When car is restarted it may take several minutes for the warning light to re-appear. She loves the car, but is frustrated by the dealer's inbility to correct the problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |
