2000 Passat battery draining
My 2000 VW Passat 1.8L 4 cyl. Turbo has been having a recurring problem in which the battery dies due to a fan under the passenger side head light running at all times. It is not an engine cooling fan. There appears to be a hose that runs from the fan towards the turbo charger, but without removing the engine shield i can't be sure. This fan runs as soon as I hook up batteries for a jump start, without the key even being in the ignition. Any suggestions?

MIne just started to do the same thing. Did you ever get the problem resolved and is there any info you could pass on to me?

My car started to do this very thing last night and I was wondering if you ever got your issue resolved how you did how much it cost. Basically anything you could share would be helpful.

Same car, same issue. I just disconnected the power cable to the fan and have been driving on it since. The car has less get-up, but it's getting me where I'm going. I've read that it might be a stuck relay that needs a good whack with a mallet, but I haven't located the relay yet. If anyone has more info on this, please post. I'm going to keep looking.
