It is a v6, two heads and all. Hello, I am looking at purchasing a 1999 passat with a 2.8 v6 in it. It idles ruff, and doesn't take off until arond 3000 rpms and it still doesn't take off like it should. Also when I got back from test driving it and had just had it floored(which it didn't take off well at all..) it started smoking(smelled like oil I belive) and the smoke came from behind the engine towards the firewall. He said the timing belt and water pump had been replaced, could the timing check plug have been pulled out, or what? Just tell me anything and everything you know about these engines. thanks.
