1999 Passat Advice needed please.
Hello!
So, I need some advice for you awesome folks. I recently bought a '99 Passat in December, I've had no problems with it and the old owners maintained it to a T. They gave me every service record and thing that has ever been done on it. So, I went to go fill up my gas tank today, and I'm pretty sure I topped it off, since the pump I was at didn't click when it was full if that makes sense, gas actually spilled around a bit. It was an accident and I stopped it as soon as I figured out that by then I probably had a full tank. I informed the gas station and the like. HOWEVER, my check engine light came on after I filled it up and shut the gas cap. I brought it to Autozone to have a diagnostic test run on it and it came up with P0441, so it's an emissions thing. Question is though, should I bring it in? The only thing I need done to the car is an oil change right now as I'm getting close and I plan on doing that tomorrow, I just don't know. I know I'm not supposed to top off a car, but it was an accident and I'm freaking out a bit here. Advice? |

VAG Error Code: 16825 EOBD II Error Code: P0441 Fault Location: Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System - Incorrect Flow Detected Possible Cause: Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)(K83) active. Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80) faulty/jammed. Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Solenoid Valve (N115) faulty/jammed. Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Sealing faulty. Pipes between Tank Breathing and Throttle Body leaky/blocked. Hose connection(s). Intake leak. Possible Solutions: Check Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80). Perform Output Test. Check Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Solenoid Valve (N115). Check Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister. Perform Basic Setting. Check Pipes between Tank Breathing and Throttle Body. Special Notes: When found in the NAR (North American Region) 1.8T Audi A4 1.8T check TSB 24-08-78 or 2010268/3 or Pass-Thru equivalent TSB. When found in the NAR (North American Region) 1.8T VW Passat 1.8T check TSB 01-09-09 or 2005554 or Pass-Thru equivalent TSB. Note: The Passat 26E5 or "R5" recall includes the same software update. Make sure the quick release lines for the N80 valve and vacuum line to LDP are not crossed. This can also make the engine hard to start after filling up the fuel tank.
