1.8 Turbo MPG
Hi all,
has any one tried to get the 1.8T motor to get better MPG? Or should I just get a TDI? lol Silversnow |
RE: 1.8 Turbo MPG
i get a little better with better flowing intake, but its still not great, tdi will fetch a much better number for sure, with a loss of power no doubt

RE: 1.8 Turbo MPG
" A little better " meaning 2-3 MPG? So you put a after market intake manifold in it?

RE: 1.8 Turbo MPG
negative, just opened up the airpassage to the airbox with 3 inch tubing and a k&N in the stock airbox.
They say this car gets around 24 or 25 city and 31 highway, but i think i get closer to 28 or 29 city and about 34 hwy. That is when im driving normal and staying out of the spool, which is very hard to do. dont forget though, I am talkin about a 1.8T in a two door hatch as opposed to a passat, make sure to take that into consideration. also, my dads gf has a tdi passat and gets ridiculous gas mileage, not sure how much exactly but i know it puts my mileage to shame |
RE: 1.8 Turbo MPG
Well I guess I won't complaine to much then because I can get 35 Highway if I try. So thanks for your help!

RE: 1.8 Turbo MPG
really? in a passat?
what area are you in? sea level and octane wise? Maybe i should stay out of it more than i do right now... |
RE: 1.8 Turbo MPG
i've never drove a 1.8T but i have drove a 2004 Passat TDI and the damn thing will get up and go honestly, it was actually faster in my opinion than a Mercedes C230 Kompressor , which has a 2.3 Ltr Supercharged 4cyl engine. and the Mercedes was FAST.

RE: 1.8 Turbo MPG
I am in Rochester NY and Running 93 in it. The average for all the miles it has gone in like 32 but if you drive really well you can get the trip average up to 35 MPG.
