Hi all,

last night installed a rns 510 c unit to my 07 b6 passat. installed relatively easy, happy out.

until this morning when i went out and the car was dead.

from looking at the net, there appears to be an issue with pre 2007 CAN gateways, and battery drain issues, but my car is may 07, so am unsure as to go and get a new one or not.

any help or advice much appreciated.

 

Well if it was alright before you fitted the radio now this morning the battery is discharged then you have disturbed something in the process. You need an ammeter in the battery negative cable and with everything you know is switched off check the current draw. If its more than 1.5 amps then remove one fuse at a time until the current draw drops then you know which circuit is causing the drain.

Either that or your battery has packed up overnight.
