Default Turn signal and brke ligth problems on 1996 Volkwagen Jetta

My daughter has a 1996 Jetta and just recently it developed a problem with the turn signals. Regardless which direction you switch the turn signal indicator both sides flash in the rear as if the emergency flashers are on. When you apply the brake with the turn signal on they stop flashing. Does anyone have any ideas?????

When a friend of had the same problem with his Jeep turn signal, we assumed that it was a faulty wiring causing it not to function properly... But when brought it to the mechanic, he replaced the switch and it was fixed instantly... Hope this helps... But it does not work, try also to check the fuses... Goodluck!!!

there should be a brake harness under the sterring column or around there somewhere. this harness controls your turn signals and your brake lights. the harness might be bad. you can pick one up at the auto parts store for pretty cheap

Hope this helps!!
