Hi guys. New to vw and diesels. Looking to buy a earlier diesel golf or jetta as my winter / daily driver. Leaning more towards the jetta cause its a bit bigger.

looking at a 96 now with 250k on it. What are some of the things that a commen problems with them that I should look out for?

 

timimgbelt repacement
check engine light on or off
drivelines (boots and joints)
take it in for a lookover at a vw shop befre you buy it
