Default Switching air filter

I noticed that there was a smell in my car so I switched out the air filter in the engine bay. I was told that was not the correct one. Which one did I change?

Is there instructions on where and how to change the air filter to regulate the smell coming into the car?

You actually need to replace the cabin air filter.

its kind of a pain but not to bad. there is a panel on the cowl on the pasenger side under the hood. its a couple screws then the filter is pressed in there u pull it out and put the new one in there it snaps in down in there. then you put the cowl back together. there are instructions on the boxes the filters come in usually.
