Shifting to Neutral
My battery on my 2008 jetta is dead and i cannot get the car into neutral to push it into a position where i can jump it, how do i shift to nuetral with a dead battery?
i have tried putting the key in, turning it in it's various positions and attempting to shift [it's a automatic btw] with no succuss, all the VW help lines that i have contacted have been unhelpful at all, none of them seem to know anything about the car itself, and will not connect me to a mechanic even to fix this simple problem

Got to autozone or nappa or some such, and see if you can rent a portable battery charger. Also check heavy equip. rentals in your area they might carry some. If not check into buying one, i have done some research for you and it seems this happens to alot of people, and they all have the same response. Portable Charger. Good luck.

yup, there's a neutral safety switch in there. You would think applying the brake and then using whatevber button to shift, would let it shift. I got a friend who, if not mistaken, just forces it into neutral..lol...not saying to do that, but will it even shift out of drive, like putting inot park?
