Setting Cylinder #1 to Top Dead Center

I'm having trouble locating a method for setting cylinder #1 to TDC to check if the timing chain has jumped. Can anyone describe what to do or point me to post that does that?

Also, can it be verified that I set Cylinder #1 or #5 to TDC to do this check ... I've seen post of both.

Thanks

You use would cylinder 1, there should be a crankshaft locking tool which AD doesn't show on that engine.

You need to find why the timing chain jumped?

I think I had a cascading failure. It appears that my vacuum pump started leaking oil, my oil level idiot light never came on and my oil level leaked down to less than half of the 6L the engine is supposed to have. I therfore didn't know that I had the leak. I believe that this is a know cause for the chain stretching / jumping. At this point I'm trying to verify that the chain did jump or not. The engine still runs at high rpm with no noticeable loss in power, just some cylinder missing issues. When I have the valve cover off, I'll check the compression on all cylinders to see if I can tell if I have any valve damage.

I just had someone else tell me that I should use cylinder 5 .... doh!
