Default Replaced Bat. now can't go over 30mph?

98' Jetta GT 2.0 manual tranny
Long story short My car was without a battery overnight. Got everything back together with a new battery. Started the car and started driving around. If i go over like 2500 rpm or so, or go faster than 30 mph the car cuts out. Once it slows down/ revs down it works again. What gives?

My serpentine came off. The bolt that holds it from sliding out came out so the belt came off. I thought it was the battery that night. Had it tested, Napa said it was shot. Went home saw the serpentine belt, fixed it, car still wouldn't fire with old battery. Car would run while hooked to another vehicle via jumper cables, although crappy. I put a new battery in. Started right up, engine searched a little, probably computer resetting. Took it for a test drive and then discovered that it just shuts off over 2500rpm or 30 mph. Starts again once it slows down and purrs. New plug wires, coil etc. Definitely not ignition. Will call dealer today and will post if I find anything. Any other ideas would be great.
