REMOVING THE SHIFTER KNOB???

I'm having a rough time removing the shifter knob on my '07 Jetta. I have tried twisting it off, but it seems like it needs more force than is called for. Do I just twist hard as hell oris there another way? Any feedback is greatly appreciatted. Thanks

Thats an easy one. I think if you grip the shaft with a set of pliers or vice grips and it should twist off.

k, would that work for a 99 jetta wolfsburg mkIII as well? i tried taking mine off a couple weeks ago and it just seemed like the whole shaft was spinning.
