Question RCD310 & Bluetooth

Hey guys, so I just bought a 2011 Jetta Trendline+ 2.0L about a month ago. I was fiddling around with the stereo (RCD310) and noticed that in "Setup", there is an option for BT-AUDIO (Bluetooth) to be turned on or off.

I tried turning it on and trying to find it with my iPhone, no luck. Went to the local dealership and the service dept didn't know how to link it up and told me that maybe it's a default option in the RCD310, even if the car isn't equipped with Bluetooth. They weren't sure, that was just their guess.

Can anyone verify this or help me get the Bluetooth working? I don't really care about having controls for phone calls, more just being able to play music from my phone or iPod wirelessly to the speakers (rather than using the AUX-IN cable).

I find it pretty odd that a company like VW would have a stereo that says you can use Bluetooth when you can't. Seems like one of those small things that other car makers might do but VW wouldn't.

Thanks in advance for any help!
Aaron

Welcome to the forum Aaron.

I have an RCD310 but I've never investigated enabling the phone. I believe there are modules you have to fit to enable it.

I play music from a flash drive plugged into the MDI connection in the arm rest.

Default Optional Module - RCD310 Bluetooth

Hi there

I was looking for more information on the bluetooth module for the RCD310 and came across this post, and thought I'd share what I know already.

The RCD310 has bluetooth capability, but in order to use bluetooth, a separate module has to be installed, which is not standard on all the models of VW's that come out with the RCD310. So even though the radio has the settings for bluetooth, it is pretty useless until you have the bluetooth module installed (and from what I can gather, they are rather pricy )
