Problem with fan belt on 91 Jetta diesel!
Hi all,
My alternator belt recently broke, and I replaced it today. As it was not getting a charge, the battery was pretty dead, so I got a free charge from my local auto shop...upon getting the battery in the car, the front v-belt, which I believe to be the fan belt starting running. No keys in the ignition, and the fixing bolts for the battery clamps weren't snugged down at all.
Anyone have any idea what this might be? I'm very new to all this, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Ian

Welcome to the forum Ian.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by the fan belt is running. The belt won't run on its own as its driven from the engine.
Didn't the gen light come on when the belt broke?
