Default Power steering pump

ok i just bought a 98 jetta gls....good little car(sadly downgraded from a camaro)..just starting today when i drive the car stright its fine but when i make a semi sharp-sharp turn the steering wheel just stops and i have 2 reef it the rest of the way around...can anybody tell me what this may be thanks

Like it wont turn anymore?? You have to force it the rest of the turn? Don't make sense, how fast are you going when this happens??

yeah, i know how that is, the pump goes and you basically get a weeks workout turning the wheel once.
check the fluid.. probably a leak or a bad pump, been there twice, once in my jeep and once in my dakota. usually you can replace the pump or the leaky lines pretty easily, not sure about this model though.
dont let it go for too long though, i drove the jeep for three weeks with no pump, but obviously it was still in the belt system so it was still spinning dry.
well one day the pump burnt up and somehow threw the pulley off the front, in turn throwing the belt off. not the best situation, so check it out asap.
