Default Oxygen senser

HELLO ALL I purchased a bosch universal oxygen senser for my 2001 2.0l A4 GLS. I am replacing the pre cat. senser. Problem is the universal has 4 wires ( 2-wht, 1-blk, 1-gray ) and the original has 5 wires ( wht, blk, grey, yel, and red ) can i still use universal? Or is the universal not that universal ? Any one come across this problem. The two wht wireson the universal senser are the heater wires.Should i not waste my time and pay the 250.00 for the senser from the dealer. Ouc

Thanks
