Default Overheating 2002 vw Jetta

My 2002 jw Jetta, 2.0 is overheating.... Just starting happening today.. Had to pull over and shut it off after the light came on...& we already changed the thermostat.... Still overheating.... Any advice on what to do?? Thanks !

i dont know your mechanical abilities but start the car and let it run just long enough to get it noticeably warm on the upper radiator hose. fell both the upper hose and lower hose. if the tops a lot warmer than the bottom then id guess the water pumps not circulating the water through the engine. or you could also check the weap holes on the water pump for any signs of leaks.
