Hello - I have a 5-speed VW Jetta bought new in 1999. I learned to drive clutch on this car, and now it has 145k miles (on the same clutch).

Last week reverse stopped working (rather suddenly), and now I can't get the car into 5th. I also can't downshift to 2nd. I had it towed to the mechanic and I'm just wondering if anyone has a clue what might be wrong with my car!? Thanks!

sounds like somthing fell in the linkage and jamed it up
