NO REVERSE ON 2001 JETTA
I HAVE A 2001 JETTA WITH A/T THAT WON'T GO INTO REVERSE.
IT WILL DRIVE FORWARD AND SHIFT SMOOTHLY, BUT WHET I SHIFT IT INTO REVERSE IT WONT DO A DAM THING. IT FEELS LIKE THE NEUTRAL GEAR, IT WON'T EVEN TRY.
ANY COMMENTS/SUGGESTIONS??

RE: NO REVERSE ON 2001 JETTA
I don't have reverse either, but I was a dumbass and wrecked it. Most VW have a self-adjusting cable so you either can't adjust it, or are not required to. Flushes do make a difference but won't put the metal back into a grinded gear, I know that one. VW trannys don't have synchros incorporated into the reverse like other trannys. They use a separate, independent reverse gear that you can R&I, but costs alot. I been dealing with this for a year and it sux, but can never find noone that can give me a straight forward answer on what the fix is so I'm not gonna dump money on a mechanic who doesn't fix my car.
