RE: New purchase. Its new to me!
the only things you should know are, when you go to put an aftermarket cd player in go buy the harness cause theres a million more wires than you could have ever thoughtwouldrun the stock player, the cv axels suck to replace (even if you have the special tool) and if you get to messed up to drive the seats fold down making a rather comfy bed

LMAO. Thanks. What makes the CV axles so hard? This is my first ever VW so that seems weird to me. Still haven't bought a manual. Is it an onboard, outboard assymbly? How do you feel about converting the brake system to the MK4, ya know the aluminum stuff? Is that a good idea, or just a waist of money?

Why do you want to convert to that?? Any mod you want to do, ask yourself this question....What serves "you" best? What will "you" be doing with this car, racing, drifting....and finally best advice...fix ANYTHING wrong with the car FIRST, before you mod! The only time I've strayed from that was when I was gonna replace my belt and so I got the underdrive pulley kit beforeI put the belt back on. That's my best advice...

Oh yeah absolutly, what is the point of modding a broken car. LOL. So far i have one helluva sound motor. She had been sitting awhile with a half tank of gas, and that caused some performance issues, so i drained the gas tank, filled her back up and ran some lucas oil injector cleaner through and thought brought her back to life. Upgraded the mk4 brake system would be a decent idea, because the mk111 does not have the aluminum set up, and i have heard the mk4 set up gives more life the brake system. This is actually not a performance mod, just eco-longrun minded one ya know. Mods are comming though. Oh yes mods are comming. LOL. I give a car about a year of day to day running befor i fully decide if i want to mod her. Gives enough time for the small stuff to go wrong befor i throw a 2500 dollar stage one turbo in it ya know. I just sold my last tuner an 89 civic hatch back with a lude swap(h22 Prelude baby), cat back exhst, short ram air, dc 421 headers, performance throttle body, perfromance intake phlume (nice venom product), aluminum pully system, aluminum flywheel, new spring and coilovers. I just got tired of working on hondas, and i didn't have a whole lot of room left for a turbo and intercooler, plust i didn't want to refab the back hatch. That things wieghs like 200 hundred pounds and i have an integra gsr that is taking up alot of money right now. So this jett will have toproove her worth befor she getsmodded, but i have faith in her.

Why would you do a big brake upgrade? I'm going to be getting crossdrilled/slotted rotors and dunno which pads to use, or which size my rotors even are. So far things I've looked at that fit the VR6 are 228mm x 25mm I think it's the spec.

Yeah better but more expensive. LOL. I still have alot of thinking to do. Insurance company just dumped a laundrey list of home repairs on me or they are going ot cancel my policy, so all cars are taking a back burner. Oh well such is life.
