New ECM?
I just bought a 2009 Jetta SE. When I took delivery, the check engine light was on. They told me it was a connector, that I could take delivery and that they would fix it if I brought it back to the service dept. Now, the service dept. is saying I need a new ECM because it is the connector on the ECM that connects the ECM to the vehicle. Originally, they thought it was a connector that was on the same line, just not on the ECM. Does this sound reasonable to you? Should I just ask for another car or let them put in the new ECM? Have you had anything similar happen with your VWs? Is this something that could happen to a new car?
