my car wont start recent radio change

I switched a sony after market radio with another sony radio and now my car wont start. Its a 99 jetta gls brand new battery fuses are all good k wire out of the way. When I turn the key i get a small humming noise but thats it. Im thinking the nuetral saftey switch some how but other than that I have no idea please help

Did you use a harness adapter or did you cut the factory plug and hard wire it in. Using a 0 dollar harness adapter prevents 90 percent of potential problems from doing a system in a car.
