Mk6 Transmission problems?
 

Hello everyone,

I have a 15 Jetta SE automatic with 117k miles and it's been my daily driver for the last 3 years and never had a problem. On my way to work I was on cruise control going 80mph, then all of a sudden my speed drops to 72 and I find it weird so I get off cruise control and try to accelerate and it doesn't want to go above 65. I notice my car isn't shifting gears properly so I pull over at an exit. I reved my engine while on park a bit but I see smoke coming out of my engine and I hear it crackling. I let it cool down since my car doesn't have a temp gague, I drive it around the block and my check engine light turns on. Is this a sign of a transmission issue? You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing and check systems out.
