Default Loud clicking behind glove box with key "on", 2007

It just started yesterday and I'm trying to figure it out before I tear the dash apart. Its coming from behind the glove box, above the a/c fan and interior filter. I already disconnected the fan motor and it still did it. It happens for about 3-5 seconds after you turn the key to "on" and then it does it again seemingly randomly while driving. Is there a relay that commonly goes bad back there? I'm really hoping its nothing to do w/ the airbag cuz I don't feel like giving the stealership hundreds to fix it. Not my car and I've never torn the dash out of a VW before, is it just the two star bits inside the box, and the 3 underneath to drop the entire thing out of the way? 2007 Wolfsburg (sp?) edition.

My '01 GLS has a random clicking that comes from the emergency flasher relay. Flashers still work whenever I use them and dont flash when turned off. When it starts clicking again, put the tip of your finger on the emergency flasher button to see if you can 'feel' it clicking. Mine hasn't bugged me enough to replace/repair the problem as it involves tearing apart the dash.
