Jetta wont start, security light blinks
Hey im new to this forum because i just bought my first VW which im really happy with the car mainly just for a driver. Its a 2000 Jetta 2.0l. The other day my fiances mom tried to start it but couldnt figure it out. (my fob is broken so i have to use both pieces the blade and the fob in combination which i never had a problem with using the two) She called me saying it keeps shutting off which it does. The security light blinks and wont stay running. I scanned it today and there are no codes present that is related to the immobilizer system. Any ideas?

Yes it sounds like the immobilizer is active the car will start for 1-2 seconds then stop. You need to find out why either via a dealer or buy some equipment that will find the SKC so you can reprogramme the keys. |
But wouldnt it have set a code saying it was in immobilizer mode?
|
What I forgot to say before when the immobilizer is active the immobilizer light flashes in the dash.
To read read the codes you ideally need to find someone with VAG-COM\VCDS to do an Autoscan. |
Thats kinda what i was thinking. Im in the middle of nowhere in michigan so its hard to find someone outside of a dealer. How much would it cost if i just brought there have them make a new key and take it out of immobilizer mode?

I'm not sure what that charge in the States.
Have a read up on immobilizers Immo 2 theft deterrent system troubleshooting and procedures (for up to 2002 cars) |
I have seen that document previously. But how do you get the skc? I guess that would be a good place to start since its a lawn ornament right now.
|
Well there are a few apps that would find the SKC the common one is VAG TACHO or VAG Commander 1.4 if you Google them.
Thats an old pdf I'm not sure if it works on Vista or Win7? |
